Hotel or Apartment? That is the question...mmmm.

Well folks,

you have now safely within the borders of Kuwait...congratulations. The next question is where do you stay? A hotel or apartment?..mmm..this is what you should consider (assuming you have a choice he he..)

A hotel is very nice, of course depending on which hotel you are in, but its small and its impersonal. Don't get me wrong the hotel staff are nice but you don't really feel you're in Kuwait. But if your life is just working from dawn till dusk...well hotel will be better for you.

An apartment is different. They normally come fully furnished and are nice as well. Mine was a two fully furnished two bedroom apartment equipped with LCD TV and a home theater system....pretty cool huh. Plus you can cook..well that doesn't mean that you should...he he. There is normally a caretaker in the building which is on call 24 hours. A little advice...give the guy a break if your TV's not working past midnight....call him tomorrow.They guy probably get about KD80 per month..so don't work him to death just because you can. But lets talk about the caretakers another time.

Anyways, hotel or apartment are normally temporary accommodation that your company gives you and soon and when I say soon its 100 days later you would have to look for your own accommodation. How to choose? Where to stay?..mmm lets talk about that another time.

Arriving in Kuwait

Well..now that u have decided to come to Kuwait for the tax free reasons or for any other reasons then the first thing you will encounter is Kuwait International Airport. Well...boys and girls if you are arriving by boat, raft, dingy (or any other water transportation yang sewaktu dengannye) or by road...then God help you coz I don't have any idea at all how's that's like....would not like to find out either...selok kera rasenye...

So...if you have survived the Kuwait Air flight and landed safely in Kuwait International, you should now be making your way to the immigration counter. If you are smart (and I hope you are..) take alternative airlines to come to Kuwait...I shall not say much about Kuwait Air but I'll give them one thing....they allow you to bring a heck lot of luggage compared to any other Airlines that I know. Cik royak kalu tak dok benda molek nok royak baik dok senyak...

For those lucky ones, the sponsor or your new employer will engage the Hala Service for you. The Hala Service is basically a service where somebody will greet when you disembark and take you through the immigration, bring you to your luggage, pass you through customs and ultimately hand you over to the driver that would probably be waiting in the arrival hall. For those lucky enough to have this ( ambo pun buleh Hala jugok abe..), arrival process will be a breeze...they don't even check your luggage.

But...for those without, then proceed to the Visa counter downstairs to check for your original copy of the Visa if you don't have it with you yet. If you are just visiting then you may get a Visa on arrival depending on your nationality. If you are on a commercial visit visa (CVV) then you need to have the original copy. If the original is not there yet when you arrive..then you are screwed...well not totally. Just that you may need to wait for as long as it takes for it to arrive..you cannot pass go. After that, you can "gracefully thank" the person who may have overslept or overlooked to make sure the original visa was when you arrive. Once you have the original, proceed to the immigration counter and get the loud,"couldn't careless" and "what the heck are you coming to my country for" immigration officer who is, by the way, blowing smoke below the no smoking sign, to stamp your visa. You can get your own luggage or you can get one of the porters to get it for you. There are plenty of porters who will be standing by with trolleys to service you. You just need to pay them about 500 fills which is actually half a Dinar (kalu kampung ambo gak, samah la..).

Take it through customs which rarely check anything...unless you have somehow manage to piss them off..or you are really unlucky. Get to the car and then you are home free.

Kelantan: Knowing its colours

Now that we have introduced Kuwait, let me now introduce you to the colours of Kelantan. Kelantan is a state and is a part of Malaysia.




Red signifies the honesty and loyalty of the people and the Ruler of Kelantan;
White emblem signifies the sanctity of the office of the Ruler of Kelantan.

Kuwait: Knowing the Colours

Well..before we go on to anything else, its only polite to introduce the colours of Kuwait and what it symbolizes (at least what I am told). If you come to Kuwait, you can see that it is "widely"displayed all year round outside offices, shops and private homes.

Green means the lands of Kuwait;
White means the deeds of Kuwait;
Red means the swords of Kuwait;
Black means the battles of Kuwait.
